The Ministry of Higher Education (HEC – Higher Education Commission) of Pakistan has announced the second phase of registrations for the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Scheme for the Afghan students. Since the establishment of this scheme, a total of 3000 students are supposed to benefit from it. Each year around 600 to 800 students pass the Aptitude Test by the HEC, Pakistan, and avail the opportunity to continue their higher education in Pakistan with the help of this scheme.
Allama Iqbal Scholarship Scheme is granted to Afghan Nationals in both the undergraduate program and the postgraduate (MS/ MPhil & Ph.D.) programs. The only restriction is that for the MS/ MPhil & Ph.D. programs the candidate cannot opt to study Clinical Medical Sciences. The grants are also given based upon regional and ethnicity quota. All the nationalities of Afghanistan who are eligible for the scheme can register themselves online for this scholarship scheme before its deadline (November 30, 2020). Allama Iqbal Scholarship Scheme Specifications
The scholarship scheme covers all the expenses of the students from living allowances and tuition fee to the airfare expenses.
This scheme is for all the study degrees at all of the affiliated universities and colleges across Pakistan. Eligible candidates can opt to study for their Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degrees through these scheme.
The candidates can choose to study any field of study through the scheme from Medical Sciences, Engineering, BBA, and Computer Science to Social Sciences. The only restriction for the MS/ MPhil & Ph.D. degrees is that candidates of these two degrees will not have the option to study Clinical Medical Science.
Eligibility Requirements for Allama Iqbal Scholarship Scheme
The candidates must have a strong academic background and a good knowledge of the English language. You must pass an Aptitude Test by the HEC, Pakistan in order that you may avail of the scholarship for the academic year 2020-21.
Undergraduate/ Bachelors
- The candidate’s age should be between 17 and 23 before the deadline.
- The candidate must have completed 12 years of schooling.
- The candidate should have graduated with at least 75% on his/ her Shahadatnama or 60% as per IBCC equivalency.
MS/ MPhil
- The candidate should be 35 years old or below in the case of non-faculty members and 40 years old or below in the case of faculty members.
- The candidates must have completed their 16 years of education (12 years of schooling and 4 years of Bachelor’s degree).
- The candidate should have obtained at least 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0 during their 4 years of Bachelor’s degree.
PhD
- The candidate should be 35 years old or below in the case of non-faculty members and 40 years old or below in the case of faculty members.
- The candidates must have completed their 18 years of education (12 years of schooling, 4 years of Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of MS/ MPhil degree).
- The candidate should have obtained at least 3.0 CGPA out of 4.0 during their 2 years of MS/ MPhil degree.
Important:
The candidates cannot choose to study the field of Clinical Medical Sciences for the degree of MS & PhD degrees.

Scholarship Deadline: November 30, 2020
The registration for the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Scheme is online. No hard form will be entertained and accepted.
Steps:
- Go to the registration link for the Scholarship.
- If you already have an account registered with the HEC, sign in.
If you do not have an account, signup and create an HEC account using your Tazkira number and other details. - Confirm your email address verification and sign in to your HEC account.
- Enter your detailed information and fill-up the form for the scholarship.
- Review your form and re-check your credentials.
- Submit the form.
Points to be considered!
- HEC, Pakistan has the complete authority to postpone or cancel the scholarship at any stage.
- Merit is the criteria for the selection process.
- Female candidates will have a 100 seats reserved specially.
- Candidates from less developed regions of Afghanistan are encouraged to apply.
- There will also be special regional and ethnicity quota.
- Candidates will be shortlisted for the final stage based upon their Aptitude Test by the HEC.
- The candidates should obtain their academic qualifications and documents on or before the closing date of the application form.
- No hard form application will be accepted for the scholarship. The application process is online.
